Dreaming big has its advantages. But as in our case – it also threw up immense challenges. The challenges of growing, the challenges of doing so profitably, the challenges of balancing our responsibilities to our customers and shareholders with those to our employees, the communities around our plants and facilities and our nation.
BUT, THOSE CHALLENGES MADE US STRONGER
We were challenged at practically every turn in our storied past. But we emerged stronger. Just like steel that emerges stronger after being forged in the fiery heat of the furnace, the intense churn of taking on bigger challenges and growing shaped our strengths.

If there is one thing that is central to JSW-ness, it is growth, and the zealous pursuit of growth. In the face of all the challenges (and sometimes the challenge was of survival itself!), we realized that the most effective way to overcome them was to grow. Faster than the market, bigger than the competition. So that today, growth has become intrinsic – and inextricably linked – to our DNA.
WE TAKE BIG BUT CALIBRATED RISKS
None of this remarkable growth that we’ve experienced, would have come about were it not for the risks that we took. Indeed, big rewards never came without the big risks. And we took those risks. But, the risks were never a gamble. We had the remarkable ability to calibrate those risks, to go down that path with an intimate knowledge of what could go wrong – and being prepared for it! In essence, that is what dreaming big is all about.
WE BELIEVE IN GIVING BACK
To us, commitment to the nation goes beyond just infrastructure or heritage. It is as much about commitment to the environment and the societies that build the nation. Giving back to the nation that provided us with the opportunities to grow, is the right way to do business. That is what we believe.

Amidst all these challenges and this growth, the one thing that remained unchanged was our commitment to the betterment of our people, our society and our nation. Today, this nationalistic spirit has become second nature to us. It is reflected in the projects we undertake, the heritage that we strive to preserve and the societies we support.
